As part of the healing process, she uproots her life and invests her nest egg in Beach Rock, a run-down Victorian mansion on the Oregon coast. And as if a bad omen, her move from Arizona is slowed by monsoons and massive thunderstorms. Little does she know Beach Rock holds its own mysteries.

Killian…

Private Investigator Killian O’Connor is a former detective for the Portland police department and is investigating his first case, an official ghost hunt at Beach Rock. A violent murder had taken place there a decade prior and the only witness was comatose and still wasn’t talking.

Quick Take

Inhuman Soul by Sandra Lynn Williamson is a quick read that doesn’t let you take a breath! The pace takes off from the first chapter and doesn’t relent. While the horror elements are light, they create an atmosphere of fear that entices. This is the perfect read for readers looking for a lighter horror novel.

Tell Me More

I picked up Inhuman Soul by Sandra Lynn Williamson as I was excited about the paranormal aspects of the novel. Paranormal horror is one of my favorites, but I am not often a fan of romance – which I knew was a theme in this book. However, the romance became an integral part of the story, and created a “cozy horror” theme that I enjoyed. Inhuman Soul is ideal for readers who like their horror more on the thriller side, with a dash of romance. It is a cozy horror novel, so it is lighter than other horror books, which makes it perfect for those looking to enter the genre.

Williamson’s writing is beautiful and severe. Her depiction of action scenes really painted a picture, and her characters were vivid. There was an air of creepiness that surrounded the novel as you delved inside, and it gave me chills. The book is fairly short, making it a quick afternoon read, and I ate it up.

I have not read a horror novel in quite some time that combined so many different elements (romance, paranormal, thriller, etc.) and was able to pull it off! Inhuman Soul did just that, and so much more. If you are a fan looking for a lighter horror novel, or a novel to get into the genre, then this novel should be your go-to. It is an excellent read.
